Vice Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, OSP, ndc, psc was born in Madaripur in 1960. His father Late M. A. Rashid was a teacher and his mother Late Mrs. Fazilatunnesa was a housewife. He passed from Madaripur United Islamia Govt. High School obtaining first division with four letters in 1976. He also passed from Madaripur Nazimuddin Govt. College obtaining first division in 1978. He joined Bangladesh Navy

Vice Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed, OSP, ndc, psc was born in Madaripur in 1960. His father Late M. A. Rashid was a teacher and his mother Late Mrs. Fazilatunnesa was a housewife. He passed from Madaripur United Islamia Govt. High School obtaining first division with four letters in 1976. He also passed from Madaripur Nazimuddin Govt. College obtaining first division in 1978. He joined Bangladesh Navy on 30 January 1979. He was graduated from Marshal Tito Naval Academy of Ex-Yugoslavia. He was commissioned on 1st August 1981. He studied in ASW School at INS VENDRUHY, India and completed his specialization course with distinction marks. Vice Admiral Nizam did Inter Forces Staff Course from Paris, France. He also attended various courses in USA and Canada. Vice Admiral Nizam served in Naval Headquarters as Staff Officer of Directorate of Naval Plans, Director of Personnel Services and Secretary to the Chief of Naval Staff. As specialist, he also served as the Instructor of TAS School as well as in Bangladesh Naval Academy. He was the Director of operations at Bangladesh Coast Guard Headquarters. Vice Admiral Nizam also got the responsibility of selecting the officers of armed forces while holding the appointment of Deputy President of ISSB. Vice Admiral Nizam commanded the Torpedo boats, Minesweepers, Gunboats and various Patrol Crafts. He had the proud privilege of commanding all the three Ex-RN frigates. He also commanded various bases and subsequently took over the command of the biggest area of Bangladesh Navy at Chittagong. He served more than two years as Area Commander and earned the commendation from the Chief of Naval Staff. Vice Admiral Nizam was awarded ‘Extraordinary Service Medal’ (OSP) by the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for his commendable service in Bangladesh Navy. Vice Admiral Nizam also completed NDC course at the National Defence College, Mirpur. He willingly participated in the peacekeeping mission in Ivory Coast during the time of tense situation as Military Observer. Vice Admiral Nizam joined Chittagong Port Authority as Chairman on 26 February 2012 and has been serving successfully till to date. As the chairman Chittagong Port Authority he took lot of initiative and opened the first Inland Container Terminal of the country at Pangao near Dhaka. It is worthy to mention that the Chittagong Port was not closed for a single day due to labour unrest or hartal/strike during his tenure. Vice Admiral Nizam did put up his best efforts to establish the country’s much-needed third Sea Port (PAYRA) in the southern region of the country. He has been working relentlessly as the Chairman of Payra Port Authority in addition to the Chittagong Port since its inauguration by the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on 19 November 2013. In fact, the long service carrier of Vice Admiral Nizam is blended with very important and sensitive staff & Command experience in the Navy, Coast Guard, Inter Service Organizations, United Nations and Port Authorities of Bangladesh. Vice Admiral Nizam visited a wide range of Countries in the world. He can speak & Write in French and Serbo-Croatian language. He is married to Nazmun Nahar and blessed with two sons.

BNS SOMUDRA JOY (Ex USCGC JARVIS) commissioned in Bangladesh Navy on 23 December 2013. The overall length is 115.2 m and beam width is 13.1 m. The primary role of this Ship is Defense Operation. It also performs her duties for various constabulary tasks such as Search and Rescue (SAR), Law Enforcement etc. Presently it is declared as 'Training Ship' for Bangladesh Navy.

He was commissioned in Executive Branch on 1st July 1992. Captain Arif Ahmed Mustafa attended various professional courses both at home and abroad. He completed 15th Junior Staff Course form Bangladesh Naval Academy and 1st Gunnery Specialization Course from Gunnery School, BNS ISSA KHAN, Chittagong with distinctive grade. He also did VVIP Protection Course from Thailand and Gunnery Specialization Course from INS DRONACHARYA, India with distinction. He is a graduate from Defence Services Command and Staff College and obtained M.Sc in Military Studies from Bangladesh University of Professionals. He is also an alumni of Mirzapur Cadet College. Captain Arif served in various capabilities in his long 23 years of commissioned career. He was Gunnery Officerof Frigate BNS UMAR FAROOQ and Executive Officer of Patrol Crafts to Frigate in various stage of his career.
